Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has received high praise from former Premier League player Stephen Warnock after his impressive outing against Manchester United in the penultimate league for Leeds United at the end of last month.

WARNOCK SAYS MANE SHOULD BE DROPPED

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has called on the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp to drop Senegalese winger Sadio Mane as the player has been off-form lately and does not deserve a starting spot in the team for now.

Mane has not been in the best of form recently and has been barren for his side this season even when they have needed him the most. He continued his poor form of the campaign against Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League clash between the two sides that was played at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

NEWCASTLE WON’T SUFFER RELEGATION – WARNOCK

Newcastle United won’t suffer demotion to the English Championship at the end of this season, according to footballer turned pundit Stephen Warnock. According to him, Newcastle United won’t suffer relegation at the end of the Premier League this season as the Magpies don’t look like a team that won’t beat the drop in the English top flight this season. Stephen Warnock talked about the Magpies and the relegation zone while he was doing his punditry job with the BBC last weekend. Stephen Warnock was on duty as Manchester United beat Newcastle United 3-1 last weekend. For the former Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers defender, Newcastle United gave a good account of themselves during the Manchester United game and that theyhave too much quality to drop down to the second tier of club football in England, the English Championship.

Tuchel Can Bring The Best Out Of Havertz, Werner – Warnock

One of the most important tasks new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has on his hands is trying to ensure that he brings out the best out of two of his key attacking players in Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. The two German superstars have not impressed at Stamford Bridge since moving to England from the German Bundesliga in the summer and there have been talks over fears whether they would continue to be used under the new manager or whether they stand the risk of getting sold or dropped to the bench.

While Havertz was signed from Bayer Leverkusen, his compatriot and fellow attacker Timo Werner was brought in from RB Leipzig. Both players were signed by former manager Frank Lampard to come and spice up the Blues attack following the tremendous season both of them had in their last campaign before swapping the Bundesliga for the Premier League. WARNOCK BELIEVES PANDEMIC THE REASON FOR CHELSEA SIGNINGS STRUGGLES

With the number of signings Frank Lampard and Chelsea completed last summer, many people expected the Blues to have a great season and even compete for the Premier League and Champions League titles. The London club signed Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, Timo Werner from Leipzig, Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, Edouard Mendy from Rennes, and free agent Thiago Silva in what was a busy and very fruitful transfer window for them.

However, the summer signings have failed to live up to expectations particularly German duo Havertz and Werner. While Havertz had been going in and out of the team due to lack of consistency, Werner had been getting a lot of game time but has failed to impress and is even currently on a barren form.

Former Premier League player Stephen Warnock has shared lovely memories of Gerard Houllierwho passed away at the age of 73 at the start of this week. Stephen Warnock was on Sky Sports on Monday to talk about the Frenchman and the impact that he had on his Liverpool career.

Stephen Warnock was primarily a youth team player when Gerard Houllierwas in charge of the first team squad at Liverpool. He also played for Gerard Houllier while the Frenchman was the Aston Villa boss between 2010 and 2011.

Stephen Warnock urges Liverpool to keep hold of Wijnaldum

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock believes the Reds should keep hold of Georginio Wijnaldum despite their interest in signing Thiago Alcantara. The Premier League champions hold a keen interest in signing the Bayern Munich midfielder and reports have claimed that they could part ways with Wijnaldum to recoup funds for the transfer.

However, speaking to Stadium Astro, Warnock has said that his former employers will need the services of Wijnaldum in their ranks and they should look to offload the likes of Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic, Rhian Brewster to afford the £30m price tag for Thiago, he told: “There’s a lot of talk around Merseyside that Wijnaldum has to go for the deal to happen. I don’t think that’s necessarily the case.

Warnock has his doubts over Nathan Ake’s move to Manchester City

Former Premier League defender Stephen Warnock has expressed his doubts over Nathan Ake, who is set to join Manchester City. The Dutchman has been a key player for Bournemouth over the past three years, but he is set to end his association with the club following their relegation from the top-flight.

Ake has been linked with a number of elite clubs including Manchester United and former side Chelsea, but the Cityzens have reportedly won the race to sign him. They are set to pay a fee of around £41m for the Netherlands international and that has raised questions whether he is worth the price tag.

Football diversification lies in the hands of owners, claims Stephen Warnock

Stephen Warnock said that improving the diversity of football lies in the hands of the owners of the club. He said the club owners should be asking themselves why the number of black managers is scarce in the league. There are 91 league clubs in England and there are only six managers who are from the background of BAME. This shows how the English league is void of the black people when it comes to in terms of power.

Warnock feels that it is the responsibility of the top clubs in the league to make steps forward in order to improve the current lack of diversity in the clubs when it comes to high profile positions. He also mentioned the importance of Rooney Rule which might help to improve the ethnic diversity among the clubs.

Warnock believes German forward would be an ideal signing for Liverpool

Former Liverpool ace Stephen Warnock believes Timo Werner could be an ideal signing for Liverpool, given he could make a key impact in the away games. The Germany international has been constantly linked with the Reds in recent months but RB Leipzig are quite clear that they won’t sanction his sale for anything less than the £52m release clause on his contract.

As a result, the Merseyside outfit have stalled on their pursuit but Warnock believes the 24-year-old would prove a quality signing for the Reds with his pace on the counter-attack, he told: “Away from home I think Werner would be really dangerous because of his pace and Liverpool’s counter-attacking football. He would enjoy the prospect of working with Klopp, although what you’d ideally want is for him to have a full pre-season to understand what the manager wants.”
